Why Asana

Our Mission Statement

It is the Mission of Asana Hospice to guide our patients and families during periods of terminal illness, to provide medical and emotional comfort, and to inspire meaningful moments and lasting memories.

Our Lasting Memories Program

At Asana Hospice and Palliative Care our mission is to create lasting memories for our patients and families. Every patient we take care of has made their journey through life creating memories they have held onto, or dreams they haven't been able to fulfill. Our Team at Asana Hospice utilizes the donations we receive to fund gifts or events which will assist our patients to celebrate a lasting memory or help fulfill a dream.

We meet with every patient and listen to their story so we might have a better understanding of how we might serve them through our Lasting Memories program.

Our Team

Our multidisciplinary team is comprised of compassionate, trained professionals who believe their career is a calling. Each team member is dedicated to creating life affirming experiences that offer patients and their loved ones opportunities to find comfort and connections. Our flexible, personalized plans incorporate a patient’s goals and wishes. Depending on specific needs, your team may include:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Nursing Assistants
  • Social Workers
  • Our Hospice Volunteers
  • Spiritual Counselors
  • Bereavement Counselors
  • Hospice Medical Director

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers are dedicated individuals who have been vetted and trained by Asana Hospice. They are available to provide different types of support to patients and their loved ones including running errands, preparing light meals, staying with a patient to give family members a break, and lending emotional support and companionship to patients and family members. Because hospice volunteers spend time in patients’ and families’ homes, an application, background check, and interview process is necessary to assure the person is right for this type of volunteer work. Volunteers also must complete a training class. Areas covered by this training program includes understanding hospice, confidentiality, working with families, listening skills, signs and symptoms of approaching death, loss and grief and bereavement support

Our Bereavement Services

Grief is a natural, normal response to loss. The grieving process for patients and their families begins at the time of initial diagnosis and continues well after the patient has passed on. During this time, a wide range of emotions can be felt. Asana’s Bereavement Care Services are an integral part of hospice care that assists families in navigating through grief which includes anticipating grief reactions and providing ongoing support for the bereaved for a period of 13 months.

Bereavement care is available to hospice families as well as the community at large.  Our staff at Asana Hospice consists of professionals and volunteers who have been trained in grief and loss and are committed to supporting others during their grief journey. Bereavement Care Services for all ages include: phone calls, visits, support groups, grief seminars and educational opportunities, and an annual service of remembrance.

Message from our President

My vision and goal for Asana Hospice was to create a company that focuses on family and patient-centered care. I believe that every member of our team -- whether they are on the front line of patient care or an administrator in our office -- has a vital role to play in ensuring that every patient and family member receives the best care that we can offer.

I want to share our Core Values with you because I personally believe very strongly that they reflect what is truly important to us as a service organization and that our staff look to them to guide their decisions and actions:

Our Core Values:

  • Treat every patient with dignity and respect, while offering high quality care
  • Uphold compliance obligations and responsibilities
  • Focus on each individual patient
  • Empower our employees to fulfill our Mission
  • Create Lasting Memories that will enrich patient lives

I hope that your time spent with the Asana Team will be comforting, and that it will enrich your life and the lives of your family and care givers.

David Glick, President
